Alicja Bielawska

Alicja is a Solicitor at IMD Corporate who advises domestic and international clients on employment law, with particular expertise in cross-border employment and workforce mobility matters. She works with both employers and employees on the employment challenges that arise when people work across jurisdictions, helping clients deal with legal and practical issues with confidence. Her practice also includes a broad range of domestic employment law matters, from day-to-day workplace issues to strategic and transactional support.

Alicja regularly advises UK employers engaging workers overseas or sending employees abroad, as well as employees working remotely from other countries for UK-based organisations. She supports clients on employment rights, contractual arrangements, cross-border working structures and employment compliance issues. She combines a strong understanding of employment law with commercial awareness gained through her wider corporate background.

Her experience includes leading employment due diligence on an £8.5 million M&A transaction, advising technology and software businesses on employee share option arrangements, supporting international businesses on cross-border employment matters and providing ongoing employment law advice to UK and overseas clients. She has also advised employers on employment compliance and anticipated legislative developments affecting the workplace.

Alicja’s international perspective is shaped by her academic and professional experience across the UK, France, Italy and Poland. Having studied and worked in multiple jurisdictions, she understands the practical challenges faced by internationally mobile employees and businesses operating across borders.

Alicja studied in the UK, France and Poland. Her academic qualifications include a Legal Practice Course with Distinction and a Graduate Diploma in Law from the University of Law in Manchester, an LL.M. in Aviation Law from Toulouse 1 Capitole University, and degrees in Law and Political Science from Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. Before joining IMD in 2017, she gained experience at a City of London law firm, an international law firm in Venice and one of the largest regional legal service providers in Poland.

Outside work, Alicja is an enthusiastic outdoors person who enjoys spending time in forests and by rivers, cycling and exploring the natural environment. She also enjoys writing non-fiction reportages focused on society and nature.
