George Peto

George is a corporate M&A and commercial lawyer with 14 years of experience, along with a total of 19 years professional experience, and is a Partner at IMD Corporate leading the corporate and commercial practice. He brings with him extensive private practice and in house experience across European, UK and US jurisdictions. He was formerly Associate General Counsel for UK and Europe at an NYSE listed risk exchange platform, working together with 40 employees upon joining to then facilitate a subsequent listing at a $4.7bn valuation.

His focuses are on general counsel advice to SME and growth company boards, and cross-border transactions including M&A particularly in European jurisdictions. He has completed multiple such deals over the course of his career with valuations up to $48 million. He advises a wide range of businesses including early growth, hypergrowth, start-ups, SMEs, owner managed, investor syndicates and VCTs, across a wide range of sectors including professional services, insurance and insurtech, healthtech, biotech, life sciences, IT, AI tech, web-based platforms and subscription services, fintech, venture capital and retail.

He speaks Dutch fluently, as well as German and French. His spare time is almost exclusively filled with running his family farm in the Scottish Borders, which gives him invaluable insight into and understanding of the challenges of being in business in an uncertain and vulnerable industry.
