Dora Toderas

Dora Toderas is a Consultant Solicitor specialising in immigration and international family law. She advises individuals and families on a broad range of UK immigration and cross-border family matters, combining legal expertise with a practical, solution-focused and compassionate approach tailored to each client’s circumstances.

Having previously practised as a lawyer in Romania, Dora brings valuable cross-jurisdictional insight to her work as a Solicitor in England and Wales. She has a strong understanding of the legal, cultural and practical challenges that individuals and families may face when navigating matters across borders. Her experience enables her to support clients dealing with complex issues involving multiple jurisdictions, particularly where immigration status, family relationships and international considerations intersect. Drawing on her background in both Romania and the UK, Dora is particularly skilled at helping clients navigate legal and cultural differences while guiding them through the UK legal system with clarity and confidence.

Dora advises on a wide range of immigration matters, including applications under the EU Settlement Scheme, family and partner applications, British citizenship, visa appl and immigration appeals. She also specialises in business immigration, advising companies on sponsor licence applications, compliance requirements and the sponsorship of overseas workers. Whether acting for individuals, families or businesses, Dora provides strategic and practical advice tailored to her clients’ specific circumstances, helping them achieve their objectives and establish long-term stability in the UK.

Alongside her immigration practice, Dora has extensive experience in international family law matters involving cross-border families and international elements. She advises clients on divorce and the recognition of foreign divorces, financial applications, child arrangements, prohibited steps orders, specific issue orders, local authority and care proceedings, international child abduction matters, parental responsibility and non-molestation orders. Dora understands the personal and practical challenges clients face when dealing with family issues across multiple jurisdictions and works closely with them to achieve effective and pragmatic solutions for their families.

Dora graduated from the Faculty of Law at Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca in 2013 and subsequently pursued master’s level studies in civil law at the same institution. Following graduation, she was admitted to the Bucharest Bar and began practising as a trainee lawyer. From 2016, she practised as a fully qualified lawyer with the Cluj Bar, developing extensive experience in litigation and family law matters.

During her legal career in Romania, Dora ran her own law office in Cluj-Napoca while also working as a lawyer at the Legal Resources Centre in Bucharest and as a legal researcher at the Faculty of Social Work and Sociology at Babeș-Bolyai University. She participated in conferences and television programmes, authored legal articles and contributed to recommendations concerning legal practice, public policy and legislation, particularly in relation to access to justice for vulnerable groups, orphans and individuals with mental disabilities in state care.

After relocating to the UK, Dora successfully completed the Solicitors Regulation Authority’s Qualified Lawyers Transfer Scheme examinations and qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2022. Prior to joining IMD Solicitors, she worked at Hallett & Co Solicitors and Wildcat Law, assisting Romanian, British and international clients across a wide range of legal matters
