Aleks Nowicka

Aleks Nowicka is a solicitor specialising in civil litigation, contract law and company law. She advises individuals, entrepreneurs and businesses on a broad range of contentious and commercial matters, combining strong technical expertise with a pragmatic and commercially focused approach. Her work frequently involves complex cross-border issues, helping clients navigate disputes and transactions that span multiple jurisdictions.

Aleks has particular experience in shareholder and company disputes, including matters involving the protection of minority shareholders, company buybacks and share buyouts. She works closely with clients to understand the commercial realities behind a dispute and develop strategies that align with their wider business objectives.

A growing area of Aleks’ practice involves industries where arbitration is commonly used to resolve disputes, including the technology, trade and commodities sectors. As an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), she has a strong interest in alternative dispute resolution and the strategic advantages arbitration can offer businesses engaged in international commerce.

Aleks qualified as a solicitor through the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) route, successfully passing both SQE1 and SQE2 at the first attempt before being admitted to the roll of solicitors. She holds a Master of Laws (LLM) in Legal Practice with Distinction and graduated with First Class Honours from the University of Wrocław in Poland.

Her legal experience spans both England and Wales and Poland. Prior to qualifying as a solicitor, Aleks worked within private legal practice and the judiciary in Poland, where she supported judges dealing with complex litigation and developed strong analytical and procedural skills. This international background enables her to offer valuable insight to clients involved in cross-border disputes and commercial matters.

Alongside her legal practice, Aleks is a part-time Visiting Lecturer at the University of Westminster, where she mentors aspiring lawyers and contributes to legal education. She is an active member of both the Westminster and Holborn Law Societies and serves as Co-Coordinator of the Junior Lawyers Division Education Committee and Magazine Committee.

In addition to her legal expertise, Aleks has pursued coding and technology-focused professional development through recognised coding certifications. Combined with her interest in emerging technologies, this helps her understand the commercial and technical considerations that frequently arise in technology-related disputes and rapidly evolving business sectors.
