Aleksandra Ida Jankowska is a Solicitor in the Family Department at IMD Solicitors LLP. She advises clients across a broad range of family law matters, with a particular focus on children cases, international family disputes and cross-border child abduction matters. She is especially interested in complex international children law cases involving jurisdictional disputes, relocation applications, wrongful removal and retention, and Hague Convention proceedings.
Aleksandra completed her Master’s Degree in Law overseas before undertaking the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL), graduating in 2023. She subsequently completed the Legal Practice Course (LPC) alongside her Training Contract and qualified as a Solicitor in 2025.
She supports clients through both straightforward and highly complex family proceedings, combining careful legal analysis with a practical and empathetic approach. Clients value her ability to explain complicated legal issues clearly and accessibly, helping them navigate some of the most challenging periods of their lives with confidence.
Alongside her family law practice, Aleksandra has developed significant experience in cases involving an international element. Her background in criminal law, particularly extradition proceedings, gives her additional insight when advising on family matters involving allegations of domestic abuse, safeguarding concerns or overlapping criminal investigations.
Aleksandra has been involved in several notable and reported cases. She acted in T v H [2025] EWHC 1875 (Fam), a significant international child abduction case concerning the interpretation of a “pending” return request and the application of settlement principles under the Hague Convention framework. She is currently involved in ongoing proceedings before the European Court of Human Rights arising from that matter.
She was also involved in FC v MC (Hague Convention 1980 – Effect of Order in Requesting State) [2026] EWHC 1516 (Fam), a reported judgment addressing important issues under the 1980 Hague Convention.
Demonstrating her commitment to improving access to justice, Aleksandra established IMD Solicitors’ pro bono legal clinic, helping individuals who may otherwise struggle to obtain legal assistance.
Her developing practice and contribution to family law have been recognised through her nomination for Young Solicitor of the Year at the LexisNexis Family Law Awards 2026 and Rising Star of the Year at the Modern Law Awards 2026. These nominations reflect her growing reputation in the field of family law and her commitment to achieving positive outcomes for clients.
Aleksandra is a member of the Association of European Attorneys (AEA) and is fluent in both English and Polish.
Outside of work, Aleksandra enjoys reading, running and crocheting. She is also looking forward to welcoming a dog into her life, and hopes her future four-legged companion will become her best friend and training partner.

T v H [2025] EWHC 1875 (Fam) – reported case – parental abduction
The case considered the correct interpretation of a ‘pending’ request for return and applied the principles of settlement from art. 12 of the 1980 Hague Convention to art. 7(1)(b) of the 1996 Convention. It was successfully argued that England and Wales retained jurisdiction under Article 7 of the Hague Convention 1996 in a case where the mother had repeatedly frustrated the enforcement of a Polish Hague Convention return order.
C v C – Children matter
We represented a father whose severely disabled son (a meningitis survivor with a multimillion-pound trust due to medical negligence) was at risk due to poor care arrangements with the mother. We coordinated with medical teams, trustees, and the local authority to ensure safe, adapted accommodation and support.
ZS v The Estate of NJ [2024] EWHC 306 (Fam) – reported case – declaration of paternity
We act for the daughter of a well-known dissident author who passed away in the UK. She has applied to the High Court for a declaration of paternity. The court granted orders for post-mortem blood samples to be released for DNA testing. Following an initial hearing, the court requested further evidence, which we are currently gathering from witnesses based in Russia.
J v J – Financial, children, and criminal matters
We represent a husband and father in a highly complex case involving financial disputes, child arrangements, and ongoing criminal investigations. Despite a substantial lottery windfall used to purchase the family home and three investment properties, all assets remain in the wife’s sole name. She has evicted our client, leaving him in a vulnerable position. He faces serious allegations, multiple arrests, and struggles with mental health and substance misuse. He currently has no contact with his son, and we are working to reestablish contact while pursuing a fair financial settlement. The case presents significant legal and procedural challenges due to its intertwined civil and criminal elements.
